That's a long way from the low country.

I know. But sometimes you want to get away from the smell of the salt marsh and the convection oven heat.

We have that here, or some of it, anyway. I have good news up at my blog, so please come by.

I used to live in the low country (Savannah) and we would get the paper-mill stink for weeks at a time beginning in July. (I can only imagine salt marsh as being the same kind of thick, deadly smell.) Not my favorite part of the year...

We had paper mill stink in Macon too.

Now I'm in Minnesota - if we have 90's and humid it's usually just for a few days and then some Canadian air comes down and cools things off.

The heat I can stand. Even the smell I can stand. But there's just something about that place....I want to go there, lie down right in the middle of the desert, and make sand angels. Don't ask me why.

This is actually Monument Valley, the East and West Mitten Buttes. Either way, it's all gorgeous anyway. When I finally do run away from home, this is where I'm going.
