Don't forget...

Tomorrow is the postmark deadline for the Ploughshares reading period, as well as the Winning Writers short story contest.

Thanks for that. I'm getting set to send out a story and they're on my list. Don't think I'm going to get it out in time though. Maybe a not-as-good version.

I know how you feel. Do you send it out anyway and cross your fingers or polish it a little more and miss the deadline? It's a tough call.

I'll probably miss this deadline because Ploughshares isn't my first choice. I'm not sure the story's all that right for them. I'd really like to send the same thing out all around, something that's as good as I can make it.

I've been reading them for awhile and I still don't know what the hell they want. Where else are you thinking of sending it?

Wow, you've got some of the big dogs in there, I'm impressed. I really like Word Riot and Eclectica. I also like Storyglossia, Perigree, Del Sol Review, Stirring, and smallspiralnotebook. I like the stuff they publish at failbetter but I haven't heard the best things about their submission process. I guess it depends on what kind of story it is.
