Why?

I just watched my Twins drop three in a row to Oakland after winning the Central Division Championship (okay, after having Detroit GIVE them the Central Division Championship over a half hour after the Twins finished the last game of the season - which I was IN ATTENDANCE for, by the way.)

The Yankees aren't even a real team - they are like one of those pimped out hot rods you only see at car shows. Because baseball is BROKEN, and because MLB continues to cling to its anti-trust exemption, teams like the Yankees will continue to buy talent, treating baseball players like the prostitutes they are, paying top dollar to create an artificial "team" of prima donnas.

Detroit, Oakland and Minnesota do it the right way - growing their own talent in the farm system, playing tough smart baseball, and eschewing the bright lights and big city of Yankee-dom.

All that being said, I will say that Joe Torre is a class act, Derek Jeter is a good guy (along with many of the overpaid and underachieving Yankees), and George Steinbrenner is an incredibly charitable guy who really does put his money back into the community (communities), sometimes in very quiet ways.

But this year in, year out, highest payroll in baseball bullshit really doesn't help the game any.

Sorry to dis your Yankees. It ain't personal.

And sorry to read about your uncle.

And good luck with Mr. Hand-holdy.
